Opening of Vol. V: Thirteen by Renee Fressola

Wander in, lean close, and let the work speak—The B Side Gallery at The Deep End is back with another unforgettable showing. Presenting: Vol V: Thirteen by Renee Fressola, opening at 7:30 PM. This isn’t just an art exhibit—it’s a tactile journey into the mind of an artist who’s been breaking boundaries for over four decades.

In Thirteen, Fressola brings together decades of vision, experimentation, and raw material into a body of work that crackles with texture, intuition, and intent. His large and small-scale abstract pieces are built from canvas, paper, wood—and the salvaged debris of everyday life. Cardboard, metal, packaging scraps, discarded hardware, lighting parts—Fressola reclaims what’s been thrown away and reimagines it with an almost electric intensity. The results are luminous, layered assemblages that feel equal parts memory and motion, artifact and energy.

Born in Brooklyn in 1965, Fressola has been making art since the late ’70s. Trained in printmaking, photography, and painting, he later studied Interior Design in Florida, focusing on color theory and spatial storytelling. His work has been featured in over 100 exhibitions and held in private collections around the world—from New York to LA, Chicago to Tampa. But through it all, he’s stayed true to one rule: only originals.“To me, abstract art is a way to leave things open,” says Fressola. “Everyone sees something different—and that’s the whole point. It’s not about telling you what to feel. It’s about letting the work speak for itself, and for you.”

Now based in New Jersey with his wife Tina and their dog Rifty, Fressola balances his studio practice with a career in residential lighting design. “It’s all connected—sculpture, painting, light, structure. I’ve been doing some form of art for over 40 years. It’s wild.”

But don’t dip out too early—the real chaos kicks in at 9:00 PM. Grab a drink, find your spot, and get loud with The Downstrokes and Sweetheart Grip, live and unfiltered. It’s $10 at the door—but show your wristband from Savage Mountain Punk Arts’ 2025 Punk Picnic, and it’s only $5.
